This title may lead you to think that the writer is someone very old, but actually is not, I am living in Toronto since 2008 and I would like to share with all of you my latest experience as a student in this beautiful country,
Despite being a professional, I have always wanted to study something else and DESIGN has always been one of the favorite fields I have been interested in, so I decided to begin a College Diploma in Web Design at Academy of Learning in Toronto, and I am feeling so happy and motivated in the course, that I would like to show you my first steps building my Personal Web Site.
Everything in this course have been interesting and challenging, I built my first pages almost from scratch which now can be viewed by my family and friends on the Internet, and it’s incredible!!!
First at all, I created my accounts on several WEB 2.0 sites like YouTube, Digg, Flickr and Vox, where I uploaded information about me like: photos, videos, a brief biography, links, comments, etc. and subsequently I integrated all those features in my personal web site which contain only 4 pages so far.
Trough the course, I have learned many things like CSS and HTML basics, how to embed badges and even the course has a whole chapter dedicated to show us how advertise your site effectively on the Internet. The Google Analytic's Tool was an amazing experience for me; I can see all the traffic in my web site with incredible detail.
My personal site was uploaded in Angelfire free hosting that’s why you will see some unwanted advertisement and annoying popups. Also, this was my first time working in a server, I had to create directories and upload files to the server, but it was very intuitive.
In the near future I’d like to create a small informational web site with new interactive features which help me to promote the product I distribute.
Finally, I’d like to thank the Session.edu staff for making a great job especially to Margaret Penny for all the help.
Enjoy my site: http://pattyscastaneda.angelfire.com/index.html
